Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)

In accordance with the No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), Healing Is a Journey LLC provides Good Faith Estimates to help clients understand the expected costs of scheduled, non-emergency services.

This applies to individuals who are:

  • Uninsured (self-pay)

  • Out-of-network, or

  • Insured but choosing not to use insurance benefits (not submitting claims)

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of scheduled, non-emergency services upon request and/or when scheduling services.

A Good Faith Estimate:

  • Is not a bill

  • Is not a contract

  • Reflects expected charges based on information available at the time the estimate is created

  • Does not include unknown or unexpected costs that may arise due to special circumstances during treatment

What may be included

Your estimate may include expected charges for psychotherapy services and other planned professional services when scheduled in advance. The total cost of services varies based on factors such as your needs, the frequency of sessions, the length of treatment, and individualized circumstances.

Session frequency may change over time based on progress, goals, life circumstances, and financial considerations. You may request a new Good Faith Estimate in writing at any time, including if your needs or anticipated frequency of services changes.

If you are billed substantially more

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be able to dispute the charges through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
