Mental Performance Therapy for Athletes in Texas (Telehealth)

Support for performance anxiety, confidence, focus, and recovery after setbacks

Athletes can be disciplined, talented, and hardworking—and still struggle with nerves, confidence swings, fear of failure, or overthinking under pressure. Mental performance therapy supports both the mindset and the nervous system, so you can compete with clarity, confidence, and consistency.

Healing Is a Journey LLC provides therapy through secure telehealth for clients physically located in Texas at the time of session.

Common Concerns Athletes Bring to Therapy

You might be experiencing:

  • Performance anxiety or choking under pressure

  • Overthinking, second-guessing, or “going blank” during competition

  • Fear of making mistakes or letting others down

  • Confidence that drops after a bad game, injury, or setback

  • Emotional intensity, irritability, or shutdown after losses

  • Difficulty with focus, motivation, or consistency

  • Stress balancing school/work, training, and expectations

The goal isn’t to “get rid of nerves.” It’s to build reliable skills for your mind and body.

What Mental Performance Therapy Can Focus On

Therapy can help you build:

  • Pre-performance routines and confidence skills

  • Focus and attention control (staying present under pressure)

  • Emotional regulation and nervous system regulation

  • Recovery after mistakes (reset skills)

  • Perfectionism, self-criticism, and fear of failure

  • Identity balance (so sport isn’t the only source of worth)

Communication skills and boundary setting with coaches/parents/teammates

Who This Is a Fit For

This may be a good fit if you are:

  • A competitive athlete (middle school through adult)

  • A student-athlete navigating pressure, scholarships, recruiting, or injuries

  • An athlete who trains hard but struggles mentally on game day

  • A parent seeking support for a young athlete’s confidence and stress

What Sessions Look Like

Sessions are collaborative and practical. You can expect:

  • Clear goals (confidence, focus, recovery, emotional regulation)

  • Skills you can practice between sessions

  • Tools for handling pressure, mistakes, and setbacks

  • Support that is emotionally grounded—not “just push through”
